More Real Ghostbusters DVD Information

I just received a reply to the e-mail that I sent to my source at Sony, Rachael Schunk. In regards to the differing titles originally reported by TVShowsOnDVD.com and those appearing in the box art they posted a day later, she tells me that "the correct titles are The Real Ghostbusters: Creatures of the Night, The Real Ghostbusters: Spooky Spirits and The Real Ghostbusters: Slimefighters." Click on the titles to pre-order them for $8.99 each at Amazon.com (prices accurate as of this writing). For a list of episodes on each disc, please read my previous RGB DVD post.

She sent along a one-sheet advertisement (which has been posted to the Real Ghostbusters Home Video page) with more information about all three volumes. I was actually able to read the text that appears in the ad, which is as follows:

Who YOU Gonna Call?

* Original Series based on the HUGELY SUCCESSFUL theatrical films that grossed 351 million in domestic box office.
* Nominated for "BEST ANIMATION SERIES" for Young Artist Awards in 1989.
* VOICE TALENT: Arsenio Hall, Dave Coulier and famed cartoonist Lorenzo Music.
* Featuring a BONUS EPISODE in each volume!

When there's something strange in your neighborhood, who you gonna call? From the hugely popular Ghostbusters franchise and the hit television series, join the Ghostbusters on their adventures as they capture those slimy, sticky ghosts!

STREET DATE: 2/28/06
DVD Video $9.95 SLP Each

There's some interesting information to be found in the one-sheet. It mentions Dave Coulier as one of the voice talent, which would lead me to believe that "Slimer, Come Home" and "Mr. Sandman, Dream Me A Dream" will contain the redubbed audio tracks (with Dave Coulier as Peter and Kath Soucie as Janine) instead of the original voice cast audio tracks (with Lorenzo Music as Peter and Laura Summer as Janine). All of the other episodes are first and second season episodes, which is before Dave joined the cast. Of course, it could just be a marketing department error. We'll know for sure come the 28th.

The box art that appears in the one-sheet is very different. The green Stay-Puft cover is for "Creatures of the Night" (with the text in the red logo and not below it), the blue 'guys on the street' cover is for "Spooky Spirits," and the "Slimefighters" cover features 1988/1989 promo art but with Janine airbrushed out. Obviously this is all early prototype art and not the final thing as Rachael sent along the box art as well (images below). The scans she sent me are the same as what was originally posted by TVShowsOnDVD.com, but my copies are of higher quality (they probably compressed theirs). You can find mine on the RGB Home Video page.

Rachael doesn't yet have access to the back box art, nor does she have much more information about the titles. However, she's getting in touch with other folks at Sony and will pass along to me whatever she can get. So stay tuned.
