I received an e-mail from someone two weeks ago asking about Bravenet. Although I answered that message privately, as I was going though my e-mail today looking for things to delete, I came across my reply and though it might be of benefit to others who see the name "Bravenet" all over this journal, but might be curious as to what exactly it is.

Here is the original message I received (in bold) and my e-mail reply.

Are you part of Bravenet? How do I become a member?

Yes, I'm a member of Bravenet. As you can see from my site, I use their free Web Journal service, which I have embedded into my main page.

You can sign up for free at http://www.bravenet.com

However, in case you have the wrong idea about them, Bravenet is free web tools site.

* If you have a website, you can sign up for free ad-supported services (or pay for ad-free versions) that you can incorporate into your site.

* If you don't have a website, one of their services is free (or paid) Website Hosting.

* Of course, you can just get a Web Journal (aka Blog) from them and post your thoughts, comments, etc. to it and share it with friends, family and anyone else (your journal would have its own web address).

You sign up once for Bravenet and then add or delete services to your account as you wish.

Do you have an e-mail listing that I can sign up for? That way you can e-mail me with info about Ghostbusters.

I used to use Bravenet's mailing list service, but I closed it because I found it annoying to post messages twice - once in the web journal and again in the mailing list. I'm hoping that Bravenet adds a mailing list feature to the web journal service so visitors to my site can receive the stuff I post to the journal via e-mail. That way it's convenient for everyone.
